Creating anthems for last place soccer teams, jams for alien big band dances, and songs for calculus teacher, Brian and Hernan play trombone and drums augmented by all manner of electronics, 8 bit video game sounds, samplers, melodica, vocals, and other various toys. In anticipation of their upcoming CD, this is the first U.S. duo tour of Native Texan Allen and Argentinian-born, Mexico City-based Hecht. Their playing has been focused in Mexico, with their intitial meeting in the Yucatan this past January made possible by Brian’s Meet the Composer Global Connections Grant, and additional March and July tours in the greater Mexico City area.

Brian has been heard with Anthony Braxton, Mark Dresser, Ellery Eskelin, Satoko Fujii and Roswell Rudd, his trio with Tony Malaby and Tom Rainey, Brainkiller, and as a composer for chamber, jazz and wind ensembles. Hernan also travels wide circles, working in a trio with Bill Carrothers, gigging with Dave Fiuczynsky and Scott Henderson, touring his Gru-B Project and XPression Quartet, scoring music for documentaries and playing drums in pop singer Ely Guerra's band.

Hola Gerardo y muchas gracias!! Yeah, we'll be busy! Can't wait to get some good playing time in with Hernan and finish our duo CD when he's here.

I'm looking forward to the first night doubleheader on 9/11 in Austin and playing Iraqnophobia with CO2 again with section mate Ron Westray. The new CO2 CD (which you heard recorded live in March) is out and sounds really good. My tune "Sopra" made the cut and is the first track.
