The Michael Musillami Trio with Mark Feldman will tour the Northeast U.S. in early October in support of its new CV/DVD set,
The Treatment (Playscape Recordings). Formed earlier this year, the group augments the well-documented chemistry of guitarist/composer Michael Musillami's longstanding trio, featuring bassist Joe Fonda and drummer George Schuller, with the distinctive voice of acclaimed violinist Mark Feldman.
Recent reviews of the The Treatment:
"...one of the most impressive releases of 2007...most certainly one of Michael Musillami's finest moments on record."
—Richard Kamins, Hartford Courant
"Feldman, the most in-demand violinist of contemporary creative improvised music, fits in seamlessly with Musillami's veteran trio. Seeing musicians of this caliber in action makes apparent how intricate the ensemble charts are and how intuitive their level of interaction truly is.
The Treatment represents an intensely rewarding and conceptually promising avenue for the future of jazz that is accessible and exploratory in equal measure."
—Troy Collins, AllAboutJazz.com
"This is as convincing a statement of what's still possible with the instrumentation as anything I've heard in years. A stylish, compelling group, who'll be worth catching whenever they get a chance to showcase this material."
—Brian Morton, PointofDeparture.org

About Michael Musillami:
Critics have called Musillami "a superior guitarist" (John McDonough,
DownBeat) and "a protean player with a prolific output" (Bill Milkowski,
JazzTimes), noting that his "intricate compositions are both thematically memorable and ear-grabbing due to their zealous playfulness" (Jay Collins,
Signal to Noise). His flagship ensemble is his trio, which has performed in the U.S., Canada and Europe in addition to recording 2002's
Beijing and 2005's
Dachau, both on his acclaimed Playscape Recordings label.
The Treatment, Musillami's 14th recording as a leader, follows 2006's
Fragile Forms, the debut of his group Dialect featuring pianist Peter Madsen, bassist Drew Gress and drummer Matt Wilson. Learn more at
