On Friday, October 12th, New Haven's Firehouse 12 will present a two set performance by The Claudia Quintet as part of the venue's ongoing 2007 Fall Jazz Series. Led by New York-based drummer/composer John Hollenbeck, this decade-old ensemble features reed player Chris Speed, vibraphonist Matt Moran, accordionist Ted Reichman and organist Gary Versace. The group will be performing music from its fourth and latest CD,

A Blessing (Omnitone). Hollenbeck has also been commissioned to compose music for ensembles ranging from choirs to percussion groups to the renowned new music outfit Bang on A Can All-Stars. As a performer, he has recorded with Bob Brookmeyer, Scott Fields, Satoko Fujii, Meredith Monk and Cuong Vu among many others. He is currently a member of such regularly working bands as Tony Malaby's Tuba Trio, the John Hollenbeck/Jorrit Dijkstra Duo and the Refuge Trio.
