Attached is a press release announcing Bobby Sanabria and the Manhattan School of Music Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra's free outdoor concert taking place on Thursday, October 18 at 5pm in Harlem at the State Office Building plaza located at 125th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. They will be joined by NEA Jazz Master Candido Camero on congas, performing a program that pays homage to Harlem's great music legacy as well as the birth of the Afro-Cuban tradition that took place in Harlem in the 1930s.
A reception follows at Sylvia's immediately after the concert. I hope that you can join us, but please let me know so that I can make sure that we have space. I look forward to hearing from you.
The concert is part of the school's official launch of its 90th anniversary season, Manhattan Takes Manhattan, an 18-month performance initiative in which Manhattan School of Music takes to the City's streets and will be presenting the music created on the island of Manhattan over the past 90 years.
