Para animar a festa is Portuguese for "to liven up the party." It's used in one of my favorite funky songs, Jorge Ben Jor's "A Banda do Ze Pretinho (Ze Pretinho's Band)."

What I saw looked pretty definitive--

At the end of a medieval manuscript, the copyist (scribe) wrote,

Explicit hoc totum;
Pro Christo, da mihi potum.

"This concludes the whole thing;          [ i.e., all the work is finished]
For Christ's sake, give me a drink."
