Excellent article, Gary, thanks for the link. And, yes, there are many parallels. And after having sat in the usually rather subdued audiences in both Vermont and the Seattle area, I can also relate to the comments that a "classical" concert hall needn't be stuffy. I got a few dirty looks when - gasp! - I was tapping my foot and nodding my head at a superb performance of J.S. Bach's Brandenbergs with Anthony Newman and members of the Seattle Symphony a couple of years ago. Well, hey, pardon me for actually enjoying myself...
