Frank D'Rone - Chicago

Frank D'Rone, famous jazz vocalist (and plays amazing guitar) has gigs in Chicago area. February 8 & 9 at Green Mill. Then March 1 at Chambers.
Visit www.frankdarone.com for home page and http://frankdarone.com/FD_News.aspx for details.

Frank recorded for Mercury during the late 50s and 60s, including with arranger Billy May. On his homepage there are recording clips of some material.

Frank D'Rone's new CD

I forgot to mention in the above post that we discovered material recorded in the 1980s at a club in Chicago. It was Frank with a trio backing him up. The performance and the audio are great. He will be releasing it soon. He scats and plays in unison and/or in harmony.

Those who are fans might want to email and ask about it. His email is darone32@msn.com. And I know his people will give you the details. HTH

for those of you in the chicago area who've never heard of frank, make a effort to see and hear him ! if you like john pizzerelli, d'rone is the model for most anything john does ( except that d'rone is a FARsuperior vocalist!)

he's an amazing vocalist / guitarist that never got the kind of national attention he deserved.

I don't think I've ever heard D'Rone, but I know he has a great reputation as a "singer's singer." I should hope he's a far superior vocalist to John Pizzarelli. Most people I know are.
