Describe Your Dream House

If you could live anywhere and money was not an object, what would your ultimate Dream House look like?

How would I live my life if I could afford it?

In a fully landscaped home on a pine covered hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The kitchen, dining room and living room would afford fantastic views. Honey-stained pinewood planks would dominate the ceiling, walls and floors. A granite top kitchen with an island in the middle would accent the stainless steel sink, stove, and kitchen appliances. The spacious living room's fireplace would be river rock from floor to ceiling. Four huge bedrooms including a Master Suite with a wet bar, huge walk in closet, a two sink bathroom with a river rock grotto leading to the shower with a sauna off to the side. All would be lighted with inset ceiling accent lights on dimmer switches. A multimedia stereo system with huge speakers along with ceiling speakers throughout the house with some kick-ass sound.

Straight Ahead Jazz would be playing constantly. Classical Baroque Trumpet for the morning repast would be a must.

A redwood deck surrounds the outside of the house and the outdoor kitchen highlights the Jacuzzi.

The temperature controlled 400 bottle fully stocked wine cellar would be downstairs next to the subterranean 4-car garage and the Cable TV/movie screening room which seats 50.

A fully appointed 2-bedroom Mother-in-Law with a kitchen would be available for visitors out in the beautifully landscaped backyard with beach access and stunning views.

Most of all, it would include expansive views, peace and serenity and the best food money can buy.

My dream house would actually be two houses. One would be a modest shack in the White Mountains. Preferably near a river, views of the mountains would be a plus. Or maybe killer views of the mountains not so near a river. Close proximity to Woodstock Station would be a *major* plus.

The other would be some sort of shack on a beach in Mexico or Central America somewhere. Out there, but accessible to electricity and cold beer.

He's a simple man, Goodz.

Who can't really hold his liquor that well. But, I refuse to hold that against him.

There are far better things to hold against his sorry ass.

I don't care what the house looks like, but if Jessica Alba is spread eagled on the floor when I open the door, it's my dream house.

Today, my real dream house, truthfully, will be anything we can afford to buy once we sell our farm. At this point, given the financial stress of the past year and a half, I won't care if that's a doublewide, so long as we can ramp it and bash a wall out to build a wheel-in bathroom and shower.

Nah, you'd want to downsize too quickly to make it worthwhile.

Yeah, doublewide or not, our next place will be wired for sound, too, as our current place is. Inside and outside. Bose makes some excellent outside speakers that aren't expensive, that were designed originally for sailboats, so you don't have to worry at all about weather's effect on them. I used to have music playing at all waking hours and some sleeping, too, all over the house, but I don't play as much wallpaper as I used to. But the capability is there when I *do* want to. That's the point.

These days I prefer to listen to music when there's a chance of really being able to pay attention to it, so I usually hold off til the day's work is over. Sometimes I have some playing at work, but that's rare today, as well.

Having the abode wired is great when you want it to be, though.

Something designed by one of Sambo Mockbee's students at the Rural Studio, and made out of all salvage material, old highway signs, bales of straw and maybe an old container or two.

Earth houses are cool, somewhat like Hobbit holes. I currently live in a raised rancher, which is sort of an Earth house.

There are some Earth contact homes around here. I don't know, man. Those things kinda freak me out a little.

They're easier to heat, since they have plenty of natural insulation.

Hopefully you won't see any roots coming through the ceiling.

Reminds me of a Roger Dean-style design.

Since people who build these things are usually very ecologically friendly, the best choices are to either let it grow wild (maybe sow some wild flowers) or get a goat.

My dream house would also definitely have a goat.
