Snowmobile riding on a really cold day is great. First you put on 5 to 10 layers of clothing, so thick you can barely bend your limbs. Once you get the thing started and moving from where it is frozen to the ground, the visor on your helmet frosts up with in seconds from the warm air you are exhaling into it, so you can't see a thing (which makes it more challenging and thrilling). Then, the real treat is after you endure this for about 5 minutes, doing that frozen body walk back to the house, unpeeling all those clothes, and sitting beside a fire with a big glass of whisky. Granted, you could just light a fire and pour a shot, and ignore that silly cold outside ritual, but there's something really special about the feel of thawing skin...
It's kind of like the adult version of pond hockey most Canadians played as a kid, where you froze your feet for an hour in skates with no lining, then went inside and had hot chocolate. But a motorized vehicle and whisky make it more interesting.
