What are your 5-star films (Netflix-rated or otherwise)?
I may have been overgenerous on some, but here goes. I'm sure there are a bunch I haven't thought to rate yet. I know I methodically rated a few directors, like Wilder, Lang & Hitchcock. I may have given Barton Fink 5 partly because it was so vilified by so many.

I'm not a big Bergman fan, but Wild Strawberries is probably the one I'd give 5* to.

I don't watch too many films from any country, but David Lynch is certainly in my pantheon. in fact, two of the three most recent films on my list are American, Lost Highway and Happiness. Hollywood pretty much poisons everything it touches, if that's the answer you're looking for.

I hadn't thought of it in those terms, but I see the only recent US film on my list is "Mulholland Dr" and the most recent prior to that is "Paris, Texas" from '84 (and whether that would be considered American or not is, I guess, an open question), otherwise "King of Comedy" (1983)
There are plenty of US films I enjoy to a good extent, but scarce few I think of as among my great favorites.

Yes, my inclusion of films like The Tingler, Last Man on Earth, and Carnival of Souls, among others, is because I think they're masterpieces of their genre or so admirably quirky.

5-star or not, these are among the ones I'll watch over and over again until I die:
Dog Day Afternoon
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Godfather I/II
The Graduate
Clockwork Orange
Diner
The Producers
Dirty Harry
Casablanca
Blow Up
Enter the Dragon
