The Laker fans are at their peak of annoyance for me right now. Everyone I talk to has the Lakers winning a championship after the Gasol trade. The day it happened I was positive and psyched about it, now all of the sudden I want to see them lose.

Third straight double-digit loss for the Hornets, heading into Phoenix Wednesday.

All my friends who are Laker fans are psyched. I don't think we'll see how good the team actually is until Bynum gets back and that may be farther off than expected. Defense wins championships, and I'm not sold on this team being able to defend well enough to win. They need to get over the Phoenix/Dallas/Golden State hump before they can think about beating the Spurs. Of course, they'll be a motherfucker for other teams to defend in the half court, that I'm convinced of.

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. It's funny, I said those same things to a group of homer Laker fans yesterday. It's just hard talking basketball with people who don't really understand the game and the NBA beyond a minimal level, and I swear everyone I've run into the last couple of days has been like that, and very vocal and cocky.
This group just thought I was insane to even think that LeBron James had caught up to Kobe in skill. (I didn't bring it up, and tried not to get involved) This one guy says "Kobe's the best player in the NBA, all the announcers on TV say it!"

Is Phoenix seriously thinking of trading the Matrix for Shaq or is this an early April Fools joke from the Miami noospapers?

ESPN says Shaq is supposedly getting a physical in Phoenix very soon. keep in mind Marion is almost definitely going to opt out in the offseason if he's not traded and leave them with nothing there, so that's a factor, but yeah, seems inane.
I'll say it again, so stupid of them to give away Kurt Thomas in the offseason just to avoid some luxury tax...

At first glance, idiot would be the better call but if Shaq still has something in the tank and would dedicate himself to getting in shape and playing hard to prove he's not washed up then maybe he would be a genius.
I guess the Gasol to Lakers trade and rumors of Shaq going to Dallas motivated this deal. I still wouldn't make it if I were Phoenix.

Gasol with 24pts and 12 boards in his debut. Kobe dislocated the pinky on his shooting hand and only scored 6, but the Lakers still cruised with the help of Fisher's 28 points.
Phoenix feels forced to make a move. I wonder if Shaq has enough left in the tank to get back in shape one last time. Right on with the comment about Kurt Thomas, Jon, that was a bewildering offseason blunder by the Suns.

From what I've seen (not much) Shaq seems to be in good shape. I am not sure however if he has still enough game in him. I am also a bit lost in how the suns will try to use him. He does not seem to be a good fit for their style. Defensively?
Go Lakers!

I dont understand why Nellie is being so public in his insistance that Webber is not only going to start, but play 15, 20, 30 minutes. Why invest yourself so publically in this move? Wouldnt the smart thing be to see what Webber's got left and decide on his playing time and role from there?

Maybe there's a personal back story that we don't know about? Maybe he screwed Kerr's daughter or something....
Here's a side note: LeBron pleaded no contest to driving 101 miles an hour in court yesterday and was fined $259. His game check was worth $118,500.00.

Nellie has little trouble reversing himself and contradicting previous opinions. If it doesn't work out, he'll just adjust and say so.
All year long Nellie has been trying to put Harrington in the role of 6th man, with his abilities to stroke 3s and ignite the offense. Moving Webber into the 4 allows him to do this. And reports out of the practices suggest that Webber as a high post passer is working out well.

It's hard being a Cavs fan, knowing that there are at least 3 to 4 good point guards, wasting away on shitty teams. Andre Miller, Mike Bibby, Jason Kidd, and Sam Cassell.
Why can't the Cavs pick somebody? How about a guy like Cuttino Mobely? It just seems like the league is full on serviceable players that teams have to use for at this point. sigh.

I wonder about this, too, Uli. Even when the Heat were playing great, they would struggle against the Suns because Shaq couldn't make it up and down the floor at that pace. And now they're going to try to include him in their run and gun offense?
Hey, maybe it really is a genius move. If Shaq plays well, I guess their half court game is much better, if nothing else.

Well the trade has happened so I guess we'll find out. Maybe Kerr didn't see the Suns being able to win it all as they were currently situated and decided to give this a try. Perhaps Shaq won't even go over half court when they're in the fastbreak mode (I just can't see his body being up for that) but will occupy space inside for the halfcourt O freeing guys up for the three. Maybe the Diesel has been dogging it with Miami knowing they didn't have a chance and now can put it in gear but I tend to doubt that.
Hey, maybe he'll face off with Kobe in the playoffs one last time.
btw, we all agree that Miami's in this for the cap space, right?
Hey bo, when you guys playing at Bonnaroo?

Kobe has a finger injury he's trying to play through, he was awful tonight and Atlanta beat them at the end.

yeah, it seems like a bad trade for the Suns and a good trade for Miami. Ending the Shaq era now, while Wade is young, seems like a good idea.
Hate, I think we're playing at midnight on Friday night, but I can't remember for sure. You going?
