Has anyone heard of him? I found a couple links. let me know what you think. Theres some great music out there in the world.

So, a Universal Music Group employee finds one of its own artists while surfing the web. Can't you be any more creative than that?

Anyway, some of the best jazz comes from Italy. Pino Minafra, Carlo Actis Dato, Giancarlo Schiaffini, Gianluigi Trovesi, Mario Schiano...I could go on and on. But I doubt you care, because you are just here to shill for Zucchero, who is not jazz.

Maybe we can hijack this thread and discuss Italian jazz. What's Minafra been up to lately? Haven't heard a new recording in a while. I do like his son's (Livio) album on Leo.

I love his son's album on Leo!

I'm also really high on the Sardinian guitarist Paolo Angeli. I loved his early album Linee de Fuga (which Walter Horn turned me on to), thought his imaginary film score, Nita, was GREAT, and also very much liked his duo album with Hamid Drake, Uotho.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming Rava-Bollani-Motian-Grenadier gig at Birdland.
