Great jazz singers that are overlooked

Al Hibbler, especialy the masterpiece with Rahsaan Roland Kirk

Bill Henderson, just about everything he ever recorded.

She gave it her all.

And we're so fortunate she did.

I first heard Bey with Bartz. I thought it was Bartz on the mic until I bothered to read the liners.

I first heard Andy on Stanley Clarke's "Children of Forever" with Dee Dee Bridgewater. That might be too unclean for some here, seeing the RTF comments.

I heard an interview with Irene Kral, in which she was asked if she had any regrets or ill-thoughts about not being recognized ON TOP. She said something like: "No, I go home and water my plants". Sounds like she wasn't concerned.
She was fantastic.

Does anyone know if she was related to Roy Kral?

She was Roy's sister and a close to perfect jazz singer.

Hey, I forgot big ol' Arthur Prysock.

I always liked Grady Tate's voice.

I don't know if she's a jazz singer per se, but I really like Leni Stern.

I always liked that album, too. The mix of Andy & Dee Dee's voices is amazing. Time for them to do it again!
BTW, it's not really like any of the RTF albums. It's something different, for sure.

I first heard Andy w/Ntu Troop, too. Those two "Harlem Bush Music" albums are great.

Celestial Blues, baby. Have you heard the slower version (not on the Harlem Bush Music albums)? I'm trying to track down the album it's on.

Noj, you mean the one on "Experience & Judgment"?
That's a nice album, too. A more pop-oriented album than the Bartz stuff.
