Going to London - March 2-9

Perhaps to some, I should have put this in the Alley, but since I'm going to London on JazzCorner business, I thought I would post it here. Peter Ind, the legendary bassist, author and owner of the Clef Club, has invited me over to do an interview and we'll be revamping his website in celebration of his 80th birthday in July.

I thought, we could have a JazzCorner hang as well as some suggestions of where to go, where to eat and who I might meet up with.

First time to London!!

I'd love to try one or more of the Rasa restaurants (Keralan Indian). They opened up after my last visit to London.

Bloomsbury & adjoining Holborn are great neighborhoods for strolling around, weather permitting.

I used to get to London a lot before I left Ireland almost 10 years ago.

The original Vortex was always good..new venue now that I have never seen.

The 606 Club was always good for a late hang with class acts.

Check out Rays Jazz..great store with free sessions sometimes.

There used to be quite a bit on the improv side but you may have to search for it.

Check out Wire mags listings for improv etc and Time Out London.

thanks Bernard so much. Yes Peter Ind already told me we're going to the 606. Eddie Palmieri is in town that week as well. Meeting up with some radio folks and some film folks, but was hoping to meet some JCers as well

Rasa is indeed fantastic, at least the one on Church street. Keralan vegetarian.

The Vortex is the most interesting big-ish jazz club in london, in my opinion. Theres also some really good musician-run nights, such as 'out of the frying pan' at the Others, Manor Rd, and the Loop Collective nights at the Oxford, in kentish Town.
