The fact that he doesn't know how to spell Frankie Laine's last name gives me pause.

That'd be fun if you were moving.

I don't know if we should pay him, or if he should pay us to take it off his hands.

The buyer is in Ireland, so it sold for 3 million weak dollars.

We should have formed a consortium to buy the collection and dole it out in pieces.

Actually, the buyer will probably resell it all the right way and double or triple his money.

Al I can think of is that old Robert Klein routine about buying every record ever made. "And if you buy now, you get this free ice crusher."

Pete's right, if the guy's got any brains.

I'm going to have to inventory mine one of these days so, in case Bronwyn ends up alone with it, she'll know wheat from chaff.

Yeah, but sometimes today's chaff is tomorrow's wheat.

True enough. That's why I stopped trading CDs at used stores. But there are things in my book and music collection that are completist. Some collectors someday will pay large.

Doesn't surprise me that it would be a fake bid. Really, who would want this? It isn't a collection, it's just a bunch of records. "Collection" to me implies that there was some focus to what was bought, as opposed to buying everything. It would be like saying that the contents of a store are a collection.

And the amount of crap - what was thought to be crap then, still would be now, and always will be crap - must be huge.

On a slightly related note (well, just because it is music and ebay), the strangest thing I have seen on there recently was someone selling the contents of Tony Oxley's house, including drums, sticks, amps, pedals, etc, old posters, reel-to-reel tapes. Said he bought the house and this stuff was in it. Odd.
