Going to NYC 3/16- 3/21

I am checking out the Jazz scene all week. Anything that should not be miss particularly Friday the 21st or Sun the 16th. So far I am going to check out The Bad Plus at The Blue Note, Elliot Sharp at The Stone, Joshua Redman at the Vangaurd, and I will be spending an evening at Smalls. Any other suggestions, or hidden gems I should know about? Thanks

Logan

Hi Logan, Wow, some good stuff going on in town that week. The Elliot Sharp gig sounds really, really interesting. When is that exactly?

If you like the bassist Joelle Leandre, she is presenting a trio piece with herself, Mat Maneri and JD Parran at Brecht Forum on Friday the 21st. I'm considering coming in as well.

Elliot Sharp is a eperimental Jazz musician who has played a range of styles from clasical to electronic and everything in between. He has palyed a range of intruments as well but currently is playing the eight string guitarbass.

One hidden gem I found out is Medeski, Martin, Scofield, Logic, and on and on and on something like 25 artist are doing a benefit show for Scotty Hard Trust at the Highline Ballroom on the 19th. It's a pretty great event I'll put the link if you want to check it out, maybe I'll see some of you there....
