Hell Freezes Over

From the Huffington Post:

Fox News' very own anchors are speaking out — and walking off — over what they perceive to be "Obama-bashing" on their network.

This morning on "Fox and Friends," Brian Kilmeade walked off the set after a dispute with his co-hosts Gretchen Carlson (she who celebrates deadly floods) and Steve Doocy over Obama's comment that his grandmother is a "typical white person." Kilmeade argued that the remark needed to be taken in context and eventually got so fed up with his co-hosts that he walked off set.

Later, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace came on the show and railed against "Fox and Friends" for what he called "Obama-bashing."

It must have been bad for a complete troglodyte like Kilmeade to walk off.

Doocy kills me. When I first moved to the DC area he worked for one of the local evening news shows. Every local news show I've seen across the country has this one segment where a goofy looking reporter goes around town reporting odd ball stories. Well, that was Doocy's gig when I first got here.

It's still Doocy's gig. He's called Doocy, c'mon.

I like Fox News. But then, I'm a typical white person. You know. Descendent of a cave-dwelling European ice freak. Created by the evil Black genius Yacub. Stealer of the wealth and philosophy of Africa. Fawning manipulator of the facts with tricknology.

Not to resort to sincerity here, but one of the things I like about my four year old son Gungadar is that when we're coloring and I ask him what color skin is, he says, "Brown." Gungadar is pretty pale and veined like a fine Stilton.

I say, "You're brown, Gungadar?"
He says, "Yes."
"And Fulgencia Maeve Myfanwy?"
"Brown."
"And Daddy?" (Who with his abusive habits and lack of sleep ought to be called a mottled purple).
"Brown."
"And our pool boy, Claudio?"
"Brown. Everybody is a different shade of brown, Daddy."

Yeah, I wonder why I was so stuck on the idea that people were not brown.

You are not a typical white person, and that is your problem. You've convinced yourself that you're "normal." Nonsense. You like Fox News because you are an Imperialist. And they come in all colors. You think you love your country, but all you really love is feeling superior.

I watched both clips. The Kilmeade thing is interesting but it mostly seems like he's pissed that no one will listen to him. However, the Wallace thing is impressive. For 5 minutes, live on the air, he is increasingly critical of the Fox and Friends' "two-hours of Obama-bashing." It's not something you see everyday. The two blonde bimbos (one male and one female) try to defend, and then to kiss his ass, and then to wheedle out of it altogether, but the harder they try, the more direct Wallace becomes. It was a good use of his stature at the network, imo. Actually kinda brave.

here's a youtube link to the Wallace bit:

Watch for Wallace to be fired soon.

Monte would be suitably superior in attitude pumping his fist in the air and chanting "U.S.A. U.S.A!!", or "We're No. 1".

There are some people who are, believe it or not, offended by that.
But, Monte would be the first person to say that there are no such thing as "typical Americans."

In foreign countries there are perceived to be just such people.
It never seems to occur to them that other countries and other cultures have their own national pride and NONE of their slogans are "We're No. 2"

If questioned, of course those who generalize will explain the reasons they used "typical" when they actually meant generally, or were trying to make a point. But, those who want to be offended will be offended.
And, so it goes.

Yup.
They do.
But, come to think of it, our dollar has been worth more than yours for a while now.
Tomorrow it will probably be different again.
But, we don't lord it over you when it is.

Oh, and while I was typing this, the World Figure Skating Championships were on and our guy, Jeffery Buttle just won gold, with your guy winning bronze. Buttle actually blushed. I felt sorry for Johnny Weir, your guy, because only coming third is hardly mentioned in your press. Sad really.

So, we don't wear the #1 ribbon with as much a sense of entitlement as some of you.
Just shoot us for being, and realizing we are only one of dozens of countries.

P.S. Does Johnny Weir really have to be "our guy"? Is that negotiable at all? Besides, everyone knows that the only sport which really reveals a country's merits is curling.

Good one, Borat.

I saw a handwritten notice the other day that the local high school girls basketball team was going to some finals. It had their team name "verses" the other school's. I got a kick out of that one.

At least we can spell moron.

And YUP. Curling or that sport in which guys in kilts toss around big logs, or shuttlecock, or ..........

No, Johnny Weir doesn't have to be "your" guy, but if he isn't you don't have anyone representing you. Have it your own way.

As a practicing Moran, I'm deeply offended by these remarks.
