The Bopera House
THE BOPERA HOUSE
This LP will go down in history as one of the last LPs I bought new.
Great stuff.

Didn't the Metropolitan Bopera House originally have another drummer? I can't remember the cat's name now.

You guys are a bad (in a good way) influence! As a result of your posts, I just purchased the Marshall/Hammer Bopera House recording on CD from Amazon. I recently purchased Tardo Hammer's wonderful tribute to Tadd Dameron (CD). I love supporting the keepers of the jazz bebop flame! ;-)

Glad to see this thread! My brother Tom Melito is on this record. I've always loved it not just because of Tom but I've always loved the band. I only have this on CD not on LP. I'd love to get the LP sometime. Great tunes on this too. Is That So by Duke Pearson, Bean And The Boys, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes and a few originals. My personal favorite is 11th and 1st by John Marshall. Everyone is in top form on this. It's nice to hear a recording that REALLY captures that music!

Has it been so long that the presence on JC of the LDB Mr. D'Imperio has been forgotten?

Yes, indeed, DEEP was very much involved on Jazz Corner, and for quite some time, before being shown the door by Lois.

Dan is quite fine. I have lunch with him often. And he is as "sweet" as ever.
He has a gig in upstate New York on June 13 (I may have that date wrong--he'll tell me if I do) and he's putting together a sextet for it w/ some great players.
Here is how far I'm coming along with Dan. I turned him on to Pharoah Sanders & he likes him! And he asked me if I had any Archie Shepp or Dewey Redman I could hip him to! Ah, yes, my influence on Dan has been very good for him.
