Archiving of new threads

What happens to the very old threads? Do they just disappear?
Is there a maximum number of threads on the new system?
Would it be possible to lock and archive old but informative threads?

Uh, they're still here. No reason to archive them anywhere unless the SQL database gets too full, and it will be quite a while before that happens, I think.
