Signs of the Apocalypse
We know they're all around us. It's blind stupidity, brainless hatred, and idiotic corporate practices and personal philosophies that are going to be the death of us all.
Post 'em here.
Up first (and I can't believe I'm actually defending Rachael Ray):
Dunkin' Donuts yanks Rachael Ray ad
By Carol Beggy and Mark Shanahan , Globe Staff | May 28, 2008
Does Dunkin' Donuts really think its customers could mistake Rachael Ray for a terrorist sympathizer? The Canton-based company has abruptly canceled an ad in which the domestic diva wears a scarf that looks like a keffiyeh, a traditional headdress worn by Arab men. Some observers, including ultra-conservative Fox News commentator Michelle Malkin, were so incensed by the ad that there was even talk of a Dunkin' Donuts boycott.
"The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad," Malkin yowls in her syndicated column. "Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant and not-so-ignorant fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons."
The company at first pooh-poohed the complaints, claiming the black-and-white wrap was not a keffiyeh. But the right-wing drumbeat on the blogosphere continued and by yesterday, Dunkin' Donuts decided it'd be easier just to yank the ad. Said the suits in a statement: "In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. It was selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperception, we are no longer using the commercial."
For her part, Malkin was pleased with Dunkin's response: "It's refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists."

I've never watched Rachel Ray, but I recently bought a set of her signature cookware on E-bay. Seemed like a good deal, but I hope I'm not funding jihad!

I forgot there was someone more irritating than Rachel Ray: Michelle Malkin. What a dope.

Timmy's preacher father had started sharing with him stories about a red-faced devil man who committed the most blood-thirsty atrocious acts. Horrifying acts far flung from Timmy's own adolescent imaginings. The devil man, his father said, would wake in the brush like an animal, his face beet red, his body naked and marked with scars and debris from the prior evening but with no memory of what had happened. Timmy came to distrust his father because of this and avoided remaining in his presence as much as possible.

A Commission is a process paid with taxpayers money, used by politicians who don’t have nuts to decide anything. Commission Taylor Bouchard was asked by our provincial prime Minister after a few incidents involving immigrants (mostly muslims) have been brought to the news. (politicains don't do anything unless the tv shows it). The commission process went through a series of population meetings in every city of the province about “aménagements raisonnables” (Brian Olewnick gave me the english term once but I forgot), followed by a report. Mr Taylor and Bouchard were the writers.
In a few words, the report tells, among other things, to remove every crosses from the public places, so the newcomers who aren’t into Jesus don’t get hurt, and that we should all learn english (yes, after 101 law) so we can communicate with them who don’t speak french.

people who speak english are cool. I think that's how that works. If you don't speak english, you can be an almost cool person influenced by english people. An engabee I think they call it.

McCain's daughter is part of the jihad, as she's been shown online wearing a keffiyeh! Dad doesn't even understand what she's doing, or even where he really stands since he's always su@%*&% Bush's d!@% anyway.

Hee hee. I was kidding about the English, jazzzoline. However, I do not think crosses should be in public places. Santa and Christmas trees even nativities don’t bother me but a cross, as a sacred symbol, only belongs in a church for the most part imo.

At least one Boston media type last night seemed to suggest that the Red Sox sign Barry Bonds if Ortiz has to have season-ending surgery on his wrist.
