The King of Po(p)ughkeepsie
So we're up last Sunday visiting my brother, his wife and their two kids in Poughkeepsie at the rather lovely and spacious house they bought a year ago on Cedar Ave. My niece Ti says, "OK, you're not going to believe this, but guess who's moving in down the road?" "Marika Lagercrantz?", I hazard. "No. Michael Jackson!" "Get out." "Really!!"
The rumor was, apparently, that everyone's favorite albino had purchased a large (though not ginormous), fairly secluded home about 500 feet south of their place. Sounded like bullshit to me, but who knows?
So I get home, plug "michael jackson poughkeepsie" into google and, sure enough, stories are rampant to the effect that he has indeed purchased a dwelling in Poughkeepsie or very nearby. Whether it's the house on Cedar remains, in my mind, an open question as I've seen a few other locations posited.
If it was me living up there, I'd probably have stuck this in the "Trivial Annoyances" thread but as is, we can keep it as a placeholder once the inevitable scandals erupt.

They don't call it Neverland for nothing but I'm totally going to practice my Thriller moves just in case.

Brian, in recent months Jacko may have been living even closer to you than you realized. Check this out!

Michael Jackson Has Been
Living Right Underneath Our
Prosthetic Noses!

Michael Jackson has been spotted around town in New York
periodically in recent months, but until today, we didn't know
where he was living. Turns out he'd been holed up with a private
family in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, where he'd been "trying to
be normal," according to FoxNews.com columnist Roger Friedman.
That's less than an hour from here! Technically, that put Jackson
miles and miles closer to our bustling city than he is to "normalcy."
Jackson has reportedly returned to L.A., but good for him for trying
to introduce his family to the quiet life in the Jersey suburbs? Good
for him. For a short time, his kids could finally have a normal life,
going to the movies, attending public school, making regular friends.
After all, if your new little friend has millions of dollars to spend at the
Short Hills mall, who cares if he has to do it wearing a mask?

Just a second, Thorne-o. How do you deduce, from the above posts, that Mr. Winter is not, in fact , living next to me, hmmmmm?

Anyone remember this odd exchange from the Mad magazine satire of The French Connection?
"Do you pick your nose in Harlem?"
"No, but I pick my feet in Poughkeepsie."
Lock up your kids, people!

Went over rather big, as you can imagine, at the Juliet Theater up in Po'town. I remember it well.

I think Ron and Brian need to attend a month long session with the Institute for the Humor Impaired.
Full-ride scholarships are available, I hear.
Just call 1-800-idontgetit.
Operators are standing by.
