Funniest FIlms of the Past 20 Years

The two nominations off the top of my head are:

Johnny Stecchino
Le Diner des Cons (The Dinner Game)

I like all the Mr Bean/Johnny English stuff. Also Meet the Parents and Zoolander.

Let's see, what else....Being John Malkovich. Napolean Dynamite. But what do I know?--I actually think The Emperor's New Groove is wicked funny.

Yeah, Being John Malkovich is another one. Also Big Lebowski. I'd even add Eddie Murphy's Nutty Professor.

I thought it would squeak by, Pete. I saw it with a long-gone girlfriend so had a rough idea of the year.

I thought *Pulp Fiction* was a funny movie.

The Big Lebowski, I'd agree.

Nutty Professor, also, if only for the dinner table scene.

No-brainer folks:

Even PW agrees that this is the greatest movie ever made. That should tell you all you need to know. And then some...

This one too, excluding THIS IS SPINAL TAP, Guest's best, IMO.

Just watched his For Your Consideration. What a dud!

Office Space is my #1 pick unmentioned above. I'll second The Dinner Game, that one is uproarious. One off-the-wall film I thought was very funny (on the absurd tip) was Soderbergh's Schizopolis.

Couple more:
Election
Drop Dead Gorgeous (uneven, but when funny, funny as hell)

Oh yeah, I love Office Space, Lebowski, and several of the Christopher Guest mockumentaries. I also really liked Anthony Michael Hall in 16 Candles. (I don't know whether that's within 20 years, actually.)

Best in Show

Tough to think of movies (as opposed to collections of skits like The Aristocrats or Borat) that have been real funny, though I'm with walto on the Mr. Bean series. Wanda holds up ok though for me, Clockwise, from a couple years prior I think, is better.

I put Diner des Cons on my queue.

Rowan Atkinson has just rehashed Jaques Tati and he doesn't come close.

Yeah, only so many times you can roll out the same carbonated comedic formula before it loses most of its fizz.

OFFICE SPACE is funny, but it hasn't aged all that well for me.

Seconds on Walt's shout out to Anthony Michael Hall circa 16 CANDLES (even though it doesn't qualify under Pete's guidelines). He *absolutely* makes that movie.

Sorry, Brother.

There is no time or space when it comes to Meatballs.

It was made in the 70's, it was made last week. It was made when I was born, it was made when you got married. It is the breathe of life itself. It continues to be, because it is.

Your feeble logic will gain no traction here.

hmm, I'd say most of the ones mentioned above (that I've seen) are mediocre to bad. I'll second Election, though, and add Heathers and Happiness.

whenever it was made, it's not very good. if you need one along these lines, Stripes, Ghostbusters, Animal House, even Caddyshack, all of these are better than Meatballs.

No surprise here

I like ELECTION, but calling HAPPINESS a "comedy" is a stretch.

I watched Animal House again a couple of years ago and found it almost embarrassingly awful.

I couldn't believe I found it so funny when I was younger.

Either way, your taste in movies sucks just as much as mine does.
