I can't believe she's (he's) a Scientologist :(
Leah Remini. I know it's just a character she plays on TV, but she seems like such a cool, sexy woman. No-nonsense and self confident, but with a sense of humor.
But she's a Scientologist. Fuck.
Post your disappointments here.

Jenna Elfman. I mean, it makes sense, but I always thought she was smarter than that.

Amazingly to me, Robin Williamson used to be a Scientologist.
Maybe he isn't anymore?
I'm going to assume he isn't.

Famous Scientologists
I guess whatever floats your boat is cool with me as long you don't lay your literature at my door. But I guess in terms of emotional investment, I'd just as soon not have Dave Davies and Moe Howard's grandson on the list.

Perhaps he means that he's not a practicing Scientologist.
MSNBC.com Seinfeld admits he dabbled in Scientology
‘I am very interested in self help things,’ says the ‘Bee Movie’ star
Access Hollywood
updated 4:05 p.m. AKT, Mon., Oct. 29, 2007
LOS ANGELES - Jerry Seinfeld helped create buzz around his latest film project, “Bee Movie” by sitting down with “Access Hollywood’s” Billy Bush over the weekend.
Among their topics of conversation? The stir Seinfeld recently caused when he revealed he’d dabbled in Scientology.
“I did some Scientology courses about 30 years ago,” Jerry told Billy. “The only thing that bothers me about people knowing that is that it is not my complete wacko resume. It’s just one aspect!
“I am very interested in self help things,” Jerry continued. “When I was a young man in my 20s I would explore like meditation, and I studied Aikido and karate and yoga and I would just take little things from each of these things.”
“But everyone else takes from yoga and Aikido and all those things, but Scientology has this stigma around it. And you say it was very helpful?” Bush asked.
“Yeah, well I didn’t do very much. I don’t know that much, I just did a little but I liked it,” Seinfeld said.
“Why did you stop?” Bush asked.
“I don’t know... I was kind of flitting from thing to thing. I was interested in exploring,” Seinfeld noted.
Thirty years after his Scientology exploration, Seinfeld’s life is a lot different. He’s been married to wife Jessica for seven years. The couple has three young children.
“Why does it work so well?” Bush asked.
“You make the other person happy,” he said. “Most guys I don’t think, don’t even want to be happy. They just want to be left alone. That is the male dream: just leave me alone.”
“Married life — is this part of the future material in stand up cause there is so much there?” Bush asked.
“It is already there. It is the gold mine. It is the ultimate comedy gold mine, marriage. If I did another TV series it would be called ‘Mrs. Seinfeld,’” Jerry said.

The Church of Scientology definitely has the highest ratio of women I'd like to have sex with for any religion in the world, so it does have that going for it.
Which is nice.

The most disappointing part is that these are some of the seemingly least pretentious celebrities.

Famous? I have no idea who most of the people on that list are. But if Scientology makes them happy, who am I to rain on their parade? as long as they leave me alone.....
wonder why this is an issue in the first place!

I do have a copy of Dianetics in my basement. It's mostly a rip-off of Freud-Breuer though.

Have you known anybody that has a family member that's gotten caught up in that cult? It's impossible to know all the family dynamics if you're an outsider but based on what I observed it's not very pretty to have a sibling voluntarily cut themselves off from all contact with their flesh and blood.
Linda Blair must still be spitting up pea soup. No surprise that it's so top-heavy with actors, who must have the lowest ratio of brains to net worth of any occupation.

One of my nieces and her husband practice Scientology. There're a couple of the nicest most laid back people you would ever meet. They seem to be very well adjusted individuals. My sister-in-law (niece's mother) was very upset when she first heard about the "conversion". However, they have since come to an agreement. My sister-in-law has agreed not to bring the subject up and my niece has agreed to do likewise. They enjoy a good relationship and when the two Scientologists show up at our family functions no proselytizing ever takes place. Matter of fact, I've never heard a word spoken about the subject.

I have a friend who was a Moony for a while in college. He was lonely, away from home for the first time, his girlfriend had dumped him, and he met some people who befriended him, spent time with him, flattered him. They took him to an introductory weekend, where an attractive young woman was "assigned" to him. They manipulated him into staying an extra day, an extra week... he described a well-designed brainwashing operation, where the new people are never alone, always accompanied by committed Moonies, never have unsupervised or unstructured time, get little sleep, don't eat quite enough... he became a committed Moony. Eventually his father kidnapped him and broke the spell. Creepy stuff. I don't know what the Scientologists do to attract and retain members.

Scientologists aren't in the same category of creepiness as Moonies.
Tom if your friend had walked in a different direction when he was vulnerable he might have struck up a conversation with the Campus Crusade for Christ and become an evangelical Christian. They tried to convert me, a non-religious Jew when I was in college. Monte would have an easier time getting PW or TG to subscribe to National Review than CC would have getting me to listen to their spiel.
Leah Remini is close friends with TomKat.

Andrew Loog Oldham? The situation is dire, me groovies.
As for Dave Davies, he's not like everybody else.

I like how they list Darby Crash under "past adherent not currently in Scientology." Yeah, that'd be true, considering he's been dead almost 30 years.
