Michael Moore & Fred Hersh: This We Know

Has anyone had a chance to listen to this recording? I'm so impressed with how these two interact with each other. I was expecting this music to be less accessible than it is and certainly less melodic.

Aquellos Ojos Verdes is a gem of a tune.

I'm looking forward to getting this.

I love the two Thirteen Ways albums (s/t & Focus) from ten years ago, trios with Moore, Hersch and Gerry Hemingway.

I have not heard this, but Fred Hersh is one of music's treasures.
I look forward to it!

[from Palmetto records....the CD gets shipped out to radio stations this week]

Michael Moore & Fred Hersch-"This We Know"

We’ve been looking forward to breaking this gem out of the Palmetto vault for some time now, so Palmetto is pleased to announce the imminent release of the Michael Moore & Fred Hersch masterpiece entitled “This We Know”.
Recorded in The Netherlands in October 2003, these two incredible musicians deliver a dazzling performance of mostly original compositions and a few exotic covers.
Michael Moore is featured throughout on alto saxophone and clarinet and his playing is strikingly beautiful. The opening track: Aquellos Ojos, kicks off the set with an astonishing duo performance; upbeat and buoyant, Fred’s solo is inspired and wonderful.
I’m sure that everyone will pick up on the hip cover of Monk’s brilliant Four in One.
Fred’s impressionistic perspective here reminds one of the breadth of his fascinating musical palette. This should be one of the most played tracks from the session.
Michael really stands out on Lee’s Dream-a joyous alto romp that channels the spirit of Be-Bop-with a sophisticated and modern sensibility.

Haven't heard this, but from the sound of it, it reminds me of the fabulous duo album by Moore and Alex Maguire: Mt Olympus on Ramboy(?) I think. That one is wonderful. I'll probably check this out from emusic.

A friend sent me this duo recording a couple of weeks ago and I've enjoyed it immensely. The empathy and telepathy between these two is absolutely remarkable.

Highly recommended!
