George Wein Produces New Jazz Series

George Wein, below, the impresario behind the Newport jazz and folk festivals, the JVC New York Jazz Festival and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, will produce a concert series at Zankel Hall in New York in memory of his wife, Joyce, who died in 2005. The Joyce Wein Series, presented by Carnegie Hall but financed by Mr. Wein, will begin on Nov. 13 with a performance by the pianist Michel Camilo. The composer, conductor and pianist André Previn will be featured on Feb. 19. The final concert in the series, on April 2, will be an all-star event with the violinist Regina Carter, the pianist Dick Hyman and many others. Mr. Wein sold his company, Festival Productions, in 2007; he continues to work for Festival Network, the new owner, but is also free to present concerts on his own.
