Hey, and allow us to edit our posts for more than two minutes afterward! That blows!

Considering that everyone is using this software, Lois, see what you can do to make it look different.

The blue scroll bar is a start.

How about toning down those colors a bit? That dominating dark blue is a little too much for my eyes.

Right now, I can't think of any other forums I'd want. I'm going to recommend we don't go crazy asking for other forums. Too many can be overkill.

How about having avatar thingies?

Oh, and the 2 min for editing thingy - that's no good.

Whoa! What's up with the 2 minute limit on edits?

Also, I think there are too many levels here. For example, to get to this thread you have to go through:
Jazzcorner's Speakeasy > SPEAK OUT > Speakout > Feedback

I think it could use one less "speakout"

+++

Editing.....editing........editing - - - - - - - - - testing......

I think you're right that we can skip one level. Let me figure out how to do that?
I'll still working on the time?

Speaking of which

where do you see 2 min editing time

· Private messages are cool with me, but not essential.
· I don't need any more e-mail messages, thank you!
· Seeing the number of views of threads could be interesting.
· I'm reserving my request(s) for new forums for a later date.

· Ditto "what else?"

Since I haven't attempted editing one of my posts since this new software was activated, I can only surmise that there's either something amiss or adjustable with respect to elapsed time to edit, based upon Moné's comment. As far as I'm concerned, there should be NO limitation as to when you can edit a post. I may try here, just for grins.

Hey Lois, why did this new software indicate 0 posts after my very first post on this new software? Shouldn't it have shown one (1)? Just curious. It's my nature. :-)

When I tried to edit a post, it said that the Administrator placed an editing time of two minutes.

Like so:

"The administrator has specified that you can only edit messages for 2 minutes after you have posted. This limit has expired, so you must contact the administrator to make alterations on your message."

Glad to know it's apparently a mistake.

Lois-

Since I wasn't able to edit my last post within the allotted two minutes, for your information, here's what I added:

Edit: Lois, thanks a million for being hip enough and aware enough to eliminate that childish Junior Member/Member/Senior Member crap within the software!

It will take me some time to figure out how to properly use the http:// and vB Code benefits, but I WILL, trust me!

Lois, I demand to know why I still have no credit for my first two posts on this new board. :-) I'm still a zero. I think I'm gonna cry and resign myself to being a JC "old school wannabee".

Wait a minute. How does Moné have seven (7) posts and I have none? Huh?

OK. Lois - it seems to work now. I edited my post of about 1/2 hour ago.

"Hey Lois, why did this new software indicate 0 posts after my very first post on this new software? Shouldn't it have shown one (1)?"
>>> Ron - that seems to be a quirk of this software. It works the same way everywhere else, too.

===

EDIT - nevermind, Ron. I see what you're talking about. Yeah, the "# of posts" function doesn't seem to be activated.

I'm getting this a little -- the reason we need SPEAK OUT > Speakout> Thread Title is because

SPEAK OUT is the Category
Speakout is the forum

Tomorrow I'll look into figure out how to get rid of the replication. The time is still not working right.

BUT WE'RE GETTING THERE! I'm kind of excited!

THANK YOU ALL

Thanks for doing this.

BFrank-

Thanks for your input.

Apparently, Lois is "burning the midnight oil" once again, making additions, corrections and deletions where necessary. My hat's off to you, young lady!

This is exciting! While we've all become comfortable with and accustomed to a certain look, flow and style on the "old board", I'm confident that we can adapt and flourish with what appears to be a far more flexible, stable, faster software now supporting one of our favorite websites.

Ok, I've been dying to try an attachment, so here's a photo I took in November when Patti and I were in Hawaii. It's a well-timed sunset shot, just offshore from Waikiki while onboard a catamaran.

I think the features you mentioned are pretty cool, Lois. I like the private message thing. It will prevent all the messages that read "Hey, I tried emailing you but your address doesn't work!"

Ron, the difference between this board and the original is that the original showed number of *posts* and this one shows number of *replies.* So when you've created a thread, it shows 0 replies until the second post - the first reply - appears.

Lois, I have a suggestion for one more forum - one for site-related feedback. That way these posts won't get lost in the hustle and bustle of Speakeasy.

One final thing - the "time offset" option in user preferences doesn't seem to work. I set mine to Paris time but at the bottom it still says "All times are EST +1 hour. The time now is 01:10 PM." And in fact it's now 9:10 AM Paris time, so EST+1 ought to be 2:10 *AM*, no?

With all due respect, Tom, I don't agree. I have yet to create a thread of my own subject on this new board, have responded with several posts (8-10), yet I just recently noticed that I've only been credited with two posts. I've replied to many posts while being credited with virtually none. It's not an issue with me, except that it's confusing.

Tom Storer suggested creating another place just for feedback and suggestions on the new Speakeasy so I'm going to attempt to move feedback from Speakout over here

what else?

Private messages: YES

E-mail notification: NO, but that's user-defined anyway, isn't it? Maybe some people will want that.

Number of thread views: DEFINITELY YES!!! I think it gives a more accurate reflection of forum usage than simply the number of posts.

Other forums: Please don't add too many.

As Omar said, I find the blue bars clutter up the screen. Please find something clearer.

I would change the style sheet so that the buttons on the post reply screen look more "natural" and are prettier. The standard grey button look is pretty ugly.

I think the ability to add images is cool, but of course it's up to posters to use their common sense. I like Ron's picture a lot!

As for the multiple levels of navigation, why not put all the forums in one category called "Speakeasy"?

Finally, I find that those rapidly flashing intermediate screens confusing. You don't have time to read what's written. Either get rid of them, or actually give us time to read them.

Hey, it looks like a lot of features to learn ( for me ). The outfit is interesting, so here are my congratulations from Germany.

Lois, I found my JazzCare-CDs last christmas, my wife had hidden them since 2001.
