Christian's music will be showcased on KFAI, Minneapolis' community-based radio, on the International Jazz Conspiracy program, Wednesday, 10/29, from 10:30-12:00 a.m.
I will be in-studio with the host Emel Sherzad, who has promoted adventurous music on his show since 1995.

Tune in if you can!

As far as I'm aware, there's no relationship between German bassist Eberhard Weber and Swiss bassist Christian Weber, except for their chosen instrument, of course.
Nice work to make this gig happen, Jesse.

No, no Weber/Weber link.
Thanks, Ron. Several of my favorite musicians have visited Minneapolis without performing here (most recently Will Guthrie, who was snorting at my shelf of Will Guthrie releases). It's great that Weber can play here (he'll be sleeping in the same room as my shelf of Christian Weber releases). I have been crowing about Weber's gifts for four years, nice to give him an assist.
I exhausted 7-8 venues, several very nice spaces (the Zeitgeist Studio, the Rogue Buddha Gallery), but the date just didn't work out. All this hustling has created some connections for future bookings, should someone else en route to Chicago/Madison/Milwaukee wish to perform here.
Bliv?

If anyone wants to hear the KFAI show I did tonight promoting Christian's gig here on 11/1, here it is.
It was my first time on the radio and the host is unfamiliar with eai. It's a 90 minute show. We talked about 25 minutes total, roughly at the 12, 31 and 71 minute marks. This was necessitated, I felt, by a complete lack of radio exposure of this music, as well as to promote Christian's concert.
The host, Emel Sherzad, wants to do a series of programs around eai, and has invited me back to spin whatever artists I wish. He is improbably open-minded, generous and genuinely curious. Off-air he talked enthusiastically and perceptively about encountering a new area of music at 47, following years of buying Sun Ra, Miles and efi in Kabul.

The Weber entrance is at the 4:10 mark-we were late to the studio, forcing the prior host to rock the traditional Swedish music.

Introducing Christian to an attentive audience of 26-30 listeners at Treehouse Records yesterday.
At home with Christian. The bass is really beautiful.
My bride Allie between us, me 6' 3", Christian 6' 5".

I hope that this event met Christian's, yours and Allie's expectations, Jesse.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.
For the record, I'm probably about Allie's height.
