Sam Bottoms was excellent in the TV mini-series, East Of Eden, which is, IMO, a much better film adaptation than was the one that made James Dean a big star.
Fifty-three is too young to have lived his whole life.
RIP Sam.

I went to high school with those Bottoms guys - Tim and Sam, anyway. The others were younger. Tim was the "star" at the time.

Yes. Tim was the one I remember in the film adaptation of Dalton Trumbo's anti-war book, "Johnny Got His Gun."

What a shame. He was far too young.

Tim also starred in "Paper Chase" and "The Last Picture Show". Sam was memorable in "Apocalypse Now" and was probably responsible for Robert Duval wearing the green Yater Surf Boards t-shirt (SB local shop) in the famous beach scene.
