Gemini Soul will be performing live the month of April 2009. They will be performing their eclectic blend of nu-jazz/funk/fusion with an electronic element at The Bistro, EON Coffee and The Hedley Club Lounge. Also Gemini Soul will make their fourth appearance on the morning TV show Sacramento & Co broadcast on NEWS10/ABC.

Gemini Soul will be performing material from their new double CD Dark Skin Babies : The Movement. Dark Skin Babies : The Movement, released February 10th, reached #13 on Amazon.com's “Hot Bestselling New & Future Releases in Jazz Fusion.” Dark Skin Babies : The Movement features a two CD set, which contains 20 tracks of non-stoppable experimental jazz funk-fusion at its best. With all songs produced, arranged and composed by Andre Ajamu Akinyele, bandleader and bassist, this marks as Gemini Soul's fifth album. This is Gemini Soul's most political and social conscience collection to date. "Dark Skin Babies : The Movement" is the follow-up to their 2008 release The Nefertiti Xperience.

Reviews:

San Jose Metro - Gemini Soul fuses soul, funk and electronic sounds into its music to create a whole new brand of jazz.

Nashville City Paper - Gemini Soul bring the best of the 70s' into the 21st Century.

WFSK 88.1 FM - Gemini Soul's Dark Skin Babies : The Movement contains an endless fusion of rhythmic funk, swing and collective improvisation.

The Urban Music Scene - Dark Skin Babies: The Movement takes Gemini Soul ambitious jazz journey into more social commentary, musical twists and turns, and new renditions from those musical groundbreakers that touch their musical soul.

---

Gemini Soul, which consists of Andre Ajamu Akinyele (Ah-jah-moo + Ah-kin-yay-lay), Jon O'Bergh, Andrew Foster and Alex Marks have expanded once again by adding special guest Waahid Jones on saxophone and additional percussion. Ajamu Akinyele states "I feel this album will be appreciated by lovers of real music without boundaries, artists and likeminded individuals who think outside the box."

This album isn't just creatively innovative, but spectacular from beginning to end. Gemini Soul's "Cyber Jazz" is here to stay and they continue to redefine jazz for a new generation. Gemini Soul's music isn't your typical jazz; it's Cyber Jazz!

Gemini Soul's performances are engaging, energizing, exciting, and displays musicianship at its best. Gemini Soul's performances have been compared to the funk fusion of bassists Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke, the pop/funk/jazz fusion of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock.

Gemini Soul:

Andre Ajamu Akinyele - bass & programming
Jon O'Bergh - keyboards & piano
Andrew Foster – percussion
Alex Marks – drums
Waahid Jones - saxophone & percussion
