JC/Vision Hang

Patricia Nicholson Parker offered to host our hang on Thursday night and she was thinking of Sabir leading the jam.

Need your input... like Sabir leading? other suggestions? Thursday cool?

Friday? Saturday?

thanks Lois

So I started a new thread so you could all tell me what you want to do and nobody has responded here yet. What's up with that

Oh, sorry. I had responded on the original thread. For me, Thursday is cool. Friday is nice, Saturday is fine. Sabir is excellent. And I nominate Gerald Cleaver as house drummer.

Anybody come to the Vision/JC hang. I didn't recognize or meet a lot of folks. But we had mad fun. The Local 296 is tres cool and I love Sabir and his generousity. As far as the jam... well it was a bit chaotic, but joyful noise. Were you there?

I was there, but by the time I got there the few seats were taken. We stood for a few and then got a bar stool while the trio of Sabir, Larry Roland and Michael Wemberley played. The trio was cool, but when they brought everybody with horns up at once, we had to leave.

On Monday, the jam with Bobby Bradford was cool. Henry Grimes on bass and the amazing Mr. Wemberley on drums. Sabir was there as well, if I remember correctly. The Brooklyn Browns were quite good.

BTW, Sabir did an absolutely wonderful set (before about five patrons) at Bowery Poetry Club on Tuesday night. Sabir on alto, tenor, clarinet and flute with the strings of Jason Hwang, Daniel levin, and Jane Wang and Raymond King on piano and again, the ever-dynamic Michael Wemberley on drums.

Some mighty fine drumming during fest time with Wemberley, Nasheet Waits, Hamid, and Warren Smith doing multiple hits, and Milford Graves making a thunderous statement.
