I was there, but by the time I got there the few seats were taken. We stood for a few and then got a bar stool while the trio of Sabir, Larry Roland and Michael Wemberley played. The trio was cool, but when they brought everybody with horns up at once, we had to leave.
On Monday, the jam with Bobby Bradford was cool. Henry Grimes on bass and the amazing Mr. Wemberley on drums. Sabir was there as well, if I remember correctly. The Brooklyn Browns were quite good.
BTW, Sabir did an absolutely wonderful set (before about five patrons) at Bowery Poetry Club on Tuesday night. Sabir on alto, tenor, clarinet and flute with the strings of Jason Hwang, Daniel levin, and Jane Wang and Raymond King on piano and again, the ever-dynamic Michael Wemberley on drums.
Some mighty fine drumming during fest time with Wemberley, Nasheet Waits, Hamid, and Warren Smith doing multiple hits, and Milford Graves making a thunderous statement.
