Los Angeles Pronunciation Change
I notice when listening to old radio broadcasts or watching films from the 40s, LA is pronounced with a hard g as in angle, not a soft g as in angel, as it is now. So when did the pronunciation shift, and are there old timers who still say it the old way?

I remember that's the way Anjelica Huston pronounces it in The Grifters.

Oh, and when I heard it with angle, the last syllable rhymed with piss, not cheese.

Only old WWII era fat white guys with an attitude.
There was, has been and ever will be only one way to mispronounce the term Los Angeles, Pete: Los(t) Angel-iss
Spanish, however, never changes: Los Ang-hel-less.

Personally, I prefer LOST Angeles or La La Land.
But then, I have anger issues with this part of the world.

What was the name of that xenophobic old-timer from LA who hated immigrants? I imagine he pronounces it the old way.
