I wrote a song about him once.

He's the general of the Army
The chairman of the Bank
If he invades Burkina Faso
The man you have to thank
Is Omar Bongo
Omar Bongo of Gabon
He's your Maximum Leader
Right on, Right on.

It seems to me that bongos were used a lot more in jazz settings in the past than they are now.

Gabon has oil and has been a loyal French client. Bongo once said, "Gabon without France is like a car without a driver. France without Gabon is like a car without gas."
