Some nice moments, especially in the original ballad, but I feel the performance of 'Golden Lady' is marred by Ms Warfield's difficulties with the key. Eb (the 'Real Book' key) was Stevie Wonder's key on the original 'Innervisions' recording; Ms Warfield would have better off in G or Ab. That would have been a major improvement in this case- either that, or have it sung by a man, if transposition would have been too difficult.

Too often, the inclusion of a singer is an afterthought, and then he/she is made to feel unprofessional if they can't sing in the 'standard' key.
Players need to consider what key is best for a singer's range, and transpose when necessary.

Of course, singers should also consider what they can and can't do well, and say 'put it in my key, or get someone else'...

Good luck with your studies, Farnell!

Excellent performances, BTW.

After the MA, where are you going from there?

Parenthetically speaking....my son [a college freshman] was up in Oregon for a composers conference back in April.

His original choral piece had won in a Western States competition and was performed there.

So, I wish you only the best....especially as a [former] trumpeter myself.
