Big shout out for Joe Frank!

Just finished listening to another great, great Joe Frank show. Up there with his best i think, and somewhat more intricately constructed than the rest. Called "A Call in the Night", it features three intertwining 'storylines' - one is 'autobiographical' - that features a playwright Joe Malke, one is a play he has written - a modern romance set in a plague stricken city, and after each scene, a discussion panel (tongue in cheek as always with Frank) analysing the play.
It's fine stuff and definitely up there with 'Bible Stories' which is probably his best - a retelling of the Fall, which is one of the funniest and most thought provoking versions i've ever come across, and of course a new eye on the Joseph story, which points out that at the centre of the Christian mythology is the figure of a cuckold.
Others of note include The River, featuring the utterly hilarious Katamandu expedition, and Prayer, with a bizarre and slightly sinister 'spirit talker' who bamboozles a weak willed man into repeating the most absurd 'prayer' - another illuminating, pointed, yet extremely droll take on religion, which is typical of Frank's questing spirit.
I was curious as to whether anyone else was wide to the man? Most probably Los Angelinos as he was based in KCRW.

Alas! Oh woe! For i have finished the last show of the season. Philosophy - good, but too obssessed with religion to be up there with the greats like 'Journal' or 'Black Light'

Where are you hearing him? We are huge fans, or at least we were when we could find him at KCRW. We even bought cassettes of many of his shows, but then...no more. I contacted him personally but it went nowhere.

Glad to hear he's got more fans here! Yeah, he really keeps a tight lock down on his stuff. I got mine from a friend, who gave me a vague story about how he got it - a rapidshare link i think. Ill find out for you if you wish.
Remember any particular faves that stand out for you?

Bible Stories - my recommendation for newcomers to Joe Frank. Fantabulously funny, and thought provoking. His take on The Fall From Eden is nothing short of mind boggling.
