TD Bank takes over as major jazz fest sponsor of Montreal

TD Bank takes over as major jazz fest sponsor

As of next year, TD Bank will be the head sponsor for the Montreal Internation Jazz Festival, it was announced during a press conference yesterday. TD, which has been a major festival sponsor for the last six years, will take over the lead sponsor role from General Motors as of 2010. While specific financial details of the sponsorship deal weren't disclosed, the five-year deal will see TD, just as GM did, pay 10% of the festival's $30 million budget, or about $3 million per year. The financially troubled GM had previously announced they would not return as the festival's primary sponsor next year after having occupied the position for the last decade.

And so it goes.....easy to figure that GM, which is owned by the governments of both the USA & Canada, can no longer operate as they had previously.
