Flamenco-Jazz

Practically all great artists accept the influence of others. But... the artist with vision... by integrating what he has learned with his own experiences... molds something distinctly personal.
Originality really means... the ability to mix up various elements and come up with something new. When you take it apart you realize none of the elements are really new, but the end product is. The more originality you have in yourself, the more you see in others.

Here I share with you to relish and learn the very Original composition by Paco De Lucia : Performance and explanation of Paco de Lucia's rumba-tango
“Palenque” from “One Summer Night” album (Track 1)

Hi Ruben. I've been enjoying your clips. In the future, I suggest you post them in Speak Out, which is the more jazz-talk room here.

Why would a classic Flamenco artist be better positioned in a jazz room? I think he's all right here. Fine playing Reuben btw!

Actually I moved it just now, and ironically was thinking of starting a thread on flamenco/tango jazz. I see a trend of it becoming more popular especially in New York. A lot of Argentian musicians have migrated to NY and make there own scenes which combine tango, flamenco (Yes I know the difference) with jazz. Quite intriguing

Flamenco guitarist Nino Josele has a great 2006 disc where he tackles music associated with Bill Evans. Sidemen are Marc Johnson, Joe Lovano, Tom Harrell and others. A youtube of Peace Piece is here:

Have you heard the fantastic guitarist Pepe Romero on his incredible Contemporary Records ? His father and brothers also recorded for that label.

I've watched a concert by Oscar Herrero a few times. I like it.
