Terrell Owens and Michael Vick
I never thought it would happen, but I actually agree with something T.O. has said:

After I perform a ritual purification of my PC, I'm going to go lay down...I'm feeling ill.

“Michael Vick is a guy that really hasn’t any character issues besides what he got a prison sentence for, so why not?”
Squeeky clean according to T.O.
Funding a business that tortured dogs and trained them to kill one another & fight to the death; being a kingpin among human beings who do the same.....lied to the commish when asked about these activities.
Vick is a fucking saint besides this *one little thing*
The guy has lost $50,000,000 and did the prison time.
He still has 3 years of probabtion.
I understand the argument to allow him to come back now, yet the NFL has nothing to gain, and more to lose if he's still a knucklehead, which is quite possible.

Agreed, Vick is no saint.
But it stands to reason that he has done his time. Four more games of a suspension is akin to beating a dead horse.
OTOH, seems to me if the NFL is that serious, then banishment from the NFL or let him come back are the only realistic choices. This halfway stuff is crap, IMHO.

Now hear this!
Michael Vick should never be allowed to participate as a professional player in any sport in America. Ever!

Sorry Thorney I can't agree with this. I despise what Vick did but we have far greater criminals participating in sports across the board.
If you saw the initial reports on this caper you heard from a confidential insider who claimed there were MANY NFL players involved in this activity. What happened to the rest? The Feds and the media got their big name and dropped it.
Funny how we can forgive rape, assault and murder to humans but lose our minds about dogs. How many canines do we murder each year because reckless owners don't spade or neuter their animals? Should these folks be given jail time? Should they be allowed to seek work in their given professions again?
I can't speak for Vicks heart but I must follow mine and that requires forgiveness.

I think Wick has been punished enough for braking the law. If sports associations are punishing above the law that can lead to many double standards. If they want to consider the public outcry for the additional heinousness of the crime for instance wouldn't sports associations have to screen say Dominican or players from other countries where dogfighting is not against the law from any involvement in such activities?

I think this has more to do with the fact that NFL prohibits gambling by NFL players than anything else. Outside of betting on actual NFL games, I can think of very few things worse than what Vick was funding. You have to question his integrity, especially as a quarterback, who we know have a lot to do with the outcomes of football games

If there was any justice in the world, Goodz would be sharing a jail cell with Terrell Owens, Michael Vick and Barry Bonds now.

hehe. If he needs to go to jail, that would not be that bad. How about solitary confinement?

Sad but not surprising.

I assume that this is not directed toward me. I certainly don't value dogs over humans, nor give humans a pass on ignorance.
Perhaps Michael Vick could train the others you reference, then join them for a new career ... being greeters at Wal-Mart. No high salaries or glamour, but lots of human interaction.

Oh?
On what charge, Rollie? Teaching above and beyond the call? Putting in too much overtime? Making after hours parental contacts appraising them of their child's progress? Teaching in an over crowded classroom? Dealing with budget cut after incessant budget cut?
Pssh.
Not taking the bait, Rollie. Though defamation of character is akin to slander. You may want to take heed. Quite a false and completely unfounded accusation you are making there, my misguided friend:
I'd delete it if I were you....this I did not deserve. No matter how much we may disagree.

Vick did a horrible thing by torturing then killing animals. I don't disagree. But he did his time.
At what point do allow ex-cons the opportunity to get on with their lives and make an honest living?
Again, I am no Vick supporter....but what is done is done. He served out his sentence. I just fail to see the purpose of the continued punishment. To what end does this serve?

Seems that way, but he throws a football for a living. Why he has any impact on anyone is beyond me.

You are correct that the one comment was not directed at you. Vick being reinstated is the easy part, getting on an NFL team is quite different. The media backlash for signing him will be fast and furious. His brother is a thug and Michael has proven himself to be of dubious character before the dog incident.

Yeah, I figure he's dead in the water, too.
But you never know. The Oakland Raiders have a very nasty habit of picking up players with a dubious, even criminal past.

I wholeheartedly agree with this post.

I don't know. As soon as McNabb throws a few passes into the ground they'll probably start chanting his name.
I'm definitely done with them for now. Fuck'em. I'm not watching the game now and won't watch this entire season.

I felt the same way when the Lakers brought on Dennis "wear a dress" Rodman.
