Mutual Musicians Foundation presents a book signing party, 75th birthday celebration and jam session for Ahmad Alaadeen from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Kansas City's historic jazz district. Admission is free.

Alaadeen's unique approach encourages creativity and individuality in playing. "When I was coming up if you took a solo and sounded like anyone else, you would be booted off the stage," he said. Written in old school script, one aim of the manual is to encourage music soloists to play with originality from their instincts and gut.
The manual contains a formal lesson plan, stories and photos from Alaadeen's life experience that are a part of our oral tradition. This experience contains musical values, knowledge and lesson. His surprising stories of struggle and great perseverance should not be lost.

He is a significant educator who has been compiling his teaching methods since the 70s, while teaching jazz in the school system and privately for 35 years.
