The New Orleans Jazz Institute at the University of New Orleans will hold citywide auditions for its free Saturday Music School.
Saturday's auditions are open to students aged 8 to 14 with previous musical experience.
Program director Robin Williams says students must bring their instrument to the auditions and be prepared to play three major scales and three minor scales of their choosing; two to three minutes of a musical selection of their choosing; and, sight-read a piece to be provided at the audition.
Twenty musicians will be selected from among those who audition to participate in the Saturday Music School to be held at the UNO Performing Arts Center on the Lakefront Campus.
