one of the worlds truly great guitarist. shawn lane, died today at the age of 40. he was a member of southern rock greats ARS at 14 years of age. made several memorable fusion CDS with jonas helborg ranging from electric rock to indian fusion, both electric and acoustic. he was so young this is quite the tragedy.
I'm not sure what happened to Shawn, but his Home Page states that he was on oxygen and his condition was caused by too much smoking. He also looks really overweight in the picture they have on his obituary page.
He was fabulous though. His credits are way too numerous to list.
I got into the World of Shawn Lane through a co-worker's suggestion I check out Jonas Hellborg's work via "ZenHouse". I am particularly fond of Lane's work with Hellborg and drummer Jeff Sipe (a.k.a. Apt. Q-238) - for me it the trio swung like hell and rocked the house.
