Damn. Oh, well. That will be the first of many shows I'll be missing. I'm on a Tilburyian boycott of Flynn events until they replace their autistic director with someone who knows how to deal with other humans in a respectful manner.

A good thing Root Doctor is picking up some of the slack, and organizing shows closer to home at the local college.

Hey, I'm looking forward to it. I have this new trio that's going to be working a lot in preparation for my next CD and I'm really excited about it. It's got Carl Maguire on keyboards and Damion Reid on drums (it'll be kind of Berne/Eskelin/whatever, but hopefully mostly Sroka). I'm just really excited to be able to play with the same people and develop something, the possibilities are endless. We're also playing at the Common Ground in Brattleboro on Oct. 2, everyone tells me that's a shitty gig, plus they don't have electricity! For folks in NYC we'll be playing a freebie at Printon56, a bar on 56th St. between 5th and 6th ave, this Tues Sept 30 from 7-10 and then again Oct. 12th at Cornelia St. Cafe.

Thanks for the thread Gary! I'm looking forward to our gig as well. My quartet has been playing together for about a year and a half now and I'm very happy with the sound we've achieved. I have a hard time putting exactly what that sound is into words but I've been told we've got our own thing happening, so I guess that's a good thing. By the way, I was in error - our show is a 10:00pm start time, not 10:30pm.

I'm really hoping to make it to Brett's gig this coming friday when he brings his trio to my hometown of Albany, NY. Is there an "Albany, NY, Jazz Scene" thread yet ...?
