I have left JC. If my deletions disrupt continuity, please accept my apology, but JC is no longer the place to be, as far as I am concerned.

I'm reminded of that joke about "Waldheimer's Disease": you get old and forget you were a Nazi.

You really have to wonder, given all of these "skeletons in the closet", why the hell Arnold would run for office. I can only imagine the skewering I would receive if I were foolish enough to do such a thing (and I don't just mean from Goody, either).

Some people get REALLY bad advice! But one would think his family would've advised him against it......

In a boost for Mr Schwarzenegger, a report in an Austrian Jewish magazine said that, as a young bodybuilder, he had helped break up a neo-Nazi demonstration in the Austrian city of Graz.
"There was a clash and Arnold along with some bodybuilders chased the Nazis down Herrengasse Street," Alfred Gerstl, the father of one of Mr Schwarzenegger's friends, recalled in the interview published last month.
The above came from the BBC.

Maria told Arnold to "go for it." Besides, after his opponents and the LA Times throw every piece of dirt at him and he still wins, the Schwarzeneggers will be able to put all the mud slinging behind them. Unfortunately, if the current headline on Drudge if true, Maria has gotten physically sick over the developments of the last few days.
Why are liberal Democrats and unaffiliated leftists so upset that a socially liberal guy is about to become the most popular office holder in the entire Republican party?

Because apparently you don't have to do shit to become the most popular office holder in the entire Republican party. All you have to be is Republican and popular.

So you actually support Arnold, Gordon?
I'm not an unafiliated leftist either.

I support Arnold. If I rank ordered my current rooting interests, Arnold's election wouldn't rank very high and I can't see myself ever living in California but yes, I hope he wins. I may end up disliking him if he turns out to be a Nelson Rockefeller, big government Republican but I'm hoping that won't be the case.

I can't answer the primary question, but I don't think that there's an "e" in dildos.

So, Ahnold's position on Hitler is just about exactly what Patrick Buchanan's is, yet Buchanan gets to go on national tv with his own nationalist-know-nothing filth. What's the difference?

California voters are desperate for someone outside political interest circles, right? Much like the Nader factor although that's probably where any comparison ends. It seems to me that it would be well within the people of California's right to sue members of State and National governments the way the power crisis went down.
Isn't Schwarzey a damned keen businessman, by the way?

Gordon -- Well, I am an unaffiliated leftist, and to tell the truth, I couldn't care less who wins the race in CA. It's all showbiz and party affiliation has nothing to do with it. I just think it's stupid to elect "celebrities" to office. It just continues to turn America into more and more of a kindergarten, politically, and people more and more into rag-mag fans than citizens. His party affiliation is meaningless to me. I don't consider either party to be anything but right wing, to begin with. Indeed, by historical standards, I don't consider them different parties, even, but rather factions of the same ruling class who have set up their own fundraising mechanisms. Whether this has been accomplished consciously or not, changes nothing. That's the way it's evolved, regardless.
I wouldn't vote if I lived in CA and my choice was Ahnold or Davis. I would find either choice repellant.

Gordon is serious. He supports a moderate Republican. Who might not even be a Republican. I don't understand how this means the sky is falling.

what a joke.
he had the guy from twisted sister up on stage with him.
christ.
that shit is not cool.
how can ANYONE, even republicans, NOT be sickened by this?
its not about arnold being a republican. its about arnold being a fuckwit who sexually harasses women, and has zero political credentials, being hailed as some great political hero.
I mean, did you guys see twins for christsake????
