Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On Tuesday, April 1, 2003, New School University's Jazz Program
will honor Bruce Lundvall, Jazz visionary and President of Blue Note
Records, guitar virtuoso Les Paul and blues master Jay McShann
with the Beacons in Jazz award. The Beacons award recognizes
living legends in Jazz whose vision and talent have significantly
influenced the music.
Hosted by Allan King, the gala will take place at The Supper Club,
240 West 47th Street at 6:30 PM. In addition to the awards ceremony,
many renowned Jazz artists will be performing to pay tribute to the
honorees and many leading figures in Jazz will be in attendance.
Founded in 1986, New School University's Jazz Program has
produced some of the leading voices in Jazz today. The Beacons
raises scholarship funds for our Jazz BFA students and is the
single-most important fundraiser of our year. Individual tickets
are $250, Leadership tables are $10,000 and Sponsor tables
are $5,000. We are also producing an event journal, if you are
interested in placing a congratulatory message for the honorees.
The deadline for the placement of an ad is March 21st at 12:00 Noon.
For tickets and information, please contact Gina Taglieri,
Director of Development, at 212 229-5896 Ext. 309.
Please join us on April 1st to celebrate the work of these Jazz
giants and to support the New School University's Jazz Program.
