This husband and wife duo represents two of Richmond's most versatile pianists, performing in settings ranging from straight-ahead Jazz to Afro-Cuban rhythms. Charlie has performed as leader of his own ensembles and with TimbaSon, HavanaSon, Bio Ritmo, and Richmond Jazz Society's ensembles. Lucy (formerly Horne) is best known for holding down the bass line on keyboards for The Jazz Ladies. She also plays regularly with the Joe Scott Trio, First Impressions, TimbaSon, Tropi-Kiimba amd many others.

BIO:
Native Virginian Steve Wilson is probably best remembered in this region for his soulful sax playing at VA Common-wealth University and, as a member of the awesome contemporary Jazz group SECRETS. In 1986 Wilson joined the band O.T.B. (Out of the Blue), a sextet of promising young Jazz players who were sponsored by Blue Note Records. He also toured for a year with the legendary Lionel Hampton Orchestra. Wilson's career further developed while working with such noted artists as Ralph Peterson, Michele Rosewoman, Rene Rosnes, the American Jazz Orchestra, the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, and Buster Williams. He has been documented on over 80 recordings and, has recorded and/or toured for such diverse artists as Chick Corea, Dave Holland, Dianne Reeves, Charlie Byrd, Donald Brown, Mulgrew Miller, Kevin Mahogany, Bruce Barth, Dave Liebman, Louie Bellson, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Don Byron and Geoff Keezer. He has performed with Dr. Billy Taylor’s Jazz at the Kennedy Center, which is broadcast on NPR. He periodically performs with some of New York's premier big bands, including the Mingus Big Band and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. He was also Artistic Consultant for Harvey Keitel for the film "Lulu On The Bridge." He has six recordings under his own name.
In addition to his performance schedule, Wilson devotes time to educational activities. He was an adjunct faculty member in the Jazz program at William Paterson College in Wayne, New Jersey from 1991 to 1998; and has led clinics at the Hartt (University of Hartford/CT) and Manhattan (NYC) Schools of Music, and at Hamilton College. Wilson brought a sextet to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s “Carolina Jazz Festival” where they were in residency for a week of clinics and performances. Recently, he completed a three-week residency for the award winning organization, CITYFOLK in Dayton, OH.

LEGENDARY REEDMAN BYARD LANCASTER HEADLINES GOSPEL JAZZ CONCERT
The 8th Annual "Gospel Jazz Celebration" will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2003, 3:00 PM at Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center to benefit Huguenot High School Jazz Band and the Gilpin-Jackson Ward Family Life Skills Center. Headlining the event is legendary saxophonist/flutist BYARD LANCASTER of Philadelphia, PA. Lancaster has performed and recorded with countless Jazz and Blues luminaries including McCoy Tyner, Philly Joe Jones, Kenny Barron, Sonny Shar-rock, Stanley Clarke, Norman Connors, Memphis Slim, Sonny Rhodes, Shemekia Copeland and others.
