Wish me luck on my recital!

It's tonight and I'm nervous and excited at the same time. This is my first ever faculty recital. It's called "My Heart and Other Foolish Things" and features "fool" songs.

I'll be singing "Just Foolin' Myself," a funny tune called "Woe is Me," "These Foolish Things," "Falling in Love with Love," "Fool that I am," "Chain of Fools" (with an acapella group), a tune I wrote called "Dumb Thing for a Smart Woman to Do," "I Want to Be a Sideman," "Wheelers and Dealers," (the former two by Frishberg) a couple Mose Allison songs ("Getting There" and "Foolkiller") and "My Foolish Heart."

Besides the acapella group, I'll be accompanied Frank Stagnitta on the piano (for the tunes I don't play for myself), my mentor Steve Brown on guitar, and a good student named Ben Smith on tenor saxophone.

I feel well prepared and the dress I want to wear still fits nicely (sparkly blue evening gown). My nails are painted and musically, I'm as ready as I'm gonna be. Rehearsal is at 6 and the gig's at 8:15.

Wish me luck!

Wow, you guys. Thanks! I love your graphics. I need to figure out how to do that. But not right now. This is that funny bit of time "between". The practice is over and the rehearsal's a couple hours away. I'm all packed to go. My kids are watching "Hey, Arnold!" on Nick. I never noticed before now that it has a beautiful, jazz-based soundtrack. I wonder who writes for it. I'm just trying to kill the time and stay cool and relaxed until I'm on. Then I just have to let the songs do the talking.

And Tip, those cookies *DO* look good.Do help yourself!

Pete: The singing fool indeed! Apropos of the day for me!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. They make me smile.

Since your recital is probably happening at this moment, I'll just give a belated "Good Luck and Good Voice" .
It's hard to go wrong on a great old torch song like "These Foolish Things"

BTW was "Wheelers...." inspired from hearing the Irene Kral's superb rendition?

Sorry I can't do visuals yet either.

Love your choice of material. You're probably either performing, or finished, and either way you'll do yourself proud.
Good for you!!!

Wish I was there for "Foolin' Myself," a longtime favorite.

I did a little "Googling" for you, Cookie. His name is Jim Lang, and I seriously doubt that it's the same one who hosted "The Dating Game". :-)

I hope you're basking in the glow of a satisfying performance ... or enjoying sweet dreams.

Hey you guys! Thanks once again for your kind wishes. The recital was a blast and the audience really seemed to enjoy themselves. I know that we surely had a ball doing it!

Ron, thanks for "googling" for me! I think I'll check that link out right now. Then I think I'll try to go to sleep. I'm still feelin' pretty high from the excitement.
