I need some help (on jazz awards)

I do know that DownBeat and Cadence have had listeners' and critics' awards for a number of years running (although for much longer in DownBeat) and I also know of the Grammy's. What other awards, by mags, institutions, or associations are there running on a yearly basis? Thank you.

The Village Voice Pazz & Jop awards (critics choices), but jazz and pop are mixed.

Coda has annual lists from all its contributors, including a few posters here. Those aren't awards, per se, but just top 10 listings like Cadence's. Which mean more to me than Downbeat's awards by far.

Yep, sorry, Cadence's is a Top 10 list indeed. So there are also Coda, Village Voice and Jazz Journalists Awards. Of course, I did find many other through google, but it seemed to me that they were rather minor and/or regional.

By regional, do you mean by country? There are Canadian jazz awards; I think it has happened twice so far. Various categories for Canadian musicians, journalists, etc, and a couple of international awards if I remember right. Pretty mainstream, very Toronto-focussed, completely ignores the Quebecois jazz world (Jean Derome, Normand Guilbeault, Pierre Tanguay, etc don't even get in the top 5 nominees, let alone win anything).

I wouldn't overlook regional awards such as this one - and I think other countries do it too - because most awards given out in the US, unless by a large international body, are going to be as focussed on the US as the Canadian awards are on Canada.

Agreed Dan. Indeed, I did mean to say "by country" since I came across the site for the Canadian Jazz Awards. I think I might engage in some research on jazz musicians and this is why I'm looking around for jazz awards.

And I would also agree on what you said regarding ethocentric nature of awards that are initiated or carried on in a given country with or without explicit reference as to their ethnocentric nature.
