Cecil Taylor Solo....er, Duo,...in San Francisco

Advertised solo gig became CT and Dominic Duval. They played an hour and ten minute first set, 18 minute break, 24 minute second set, and 2 minute solo encore. I enjoyed their rapport immensely in July at Knitting Factory (with drummer Jackson Krall), and was not disappointed at their duo. The range of what CT played was large, including what sounded like a Cuban tune toward midway mark in first set. CT performed a poem in there that I think was on Chinampas. Audience contained lots of artists. Among the poets: Michael McClure, Diane diPrima, and Tom Marshall.

I'd have been disappointed.

Where was the gig? At the Yuerba Buena? I can't think of another place in Frisco at which Cecil would be likely to play.

Bye-ya.
