Holiday catalogs.......

They're flooding my mailbox already. Yesterday I got one with a picture of Susan Sarandon on the cover from an organization called "Heifer International". I thought that was pretty humorous. Anybody else getting strange catalogs this year?

Not too many, I try to keep my mailing lists down as much as possible, but of course any place where I've used a credit card "gifts" me their seasonal catalogs. Crate & Barrel and Fortunoff is it at this late date. I have a $35 return credit at Fortunoff maybe I will get their neato basketball Lego watch.

What the heck is Heifer International? Do you get cow parts shipped to your home, jmj?

It's actually a charitable organization that uses your donations to provide livestock to underdeveloped nations, with th idea that the recipients will share their offspring with other needy persons in their community. Along with Sarandon, Walter Conkrite, Ed Asner, and Mr. and Mrs. Mary Steenburgen appear in the catalog. Moreover, according to a blurb on one of the interior pages, Heifer International was awarded the President's Award for Voluntary Action by President Reagan, and the Presidential End Hunger Award by President GHW Bush. Who knew?
