K.C. Bob
Besides the fact that I miss his stories, I'm concerned. He hasn't posted since August, and he didn't seem like the kind of person to just disappear. I sent him an email a few days ago, but I haven't had a response yet. Has anybody heard from him? I hope everything's OK.

Definitely we need more K.C. Bob in these parts. I don't think I've ever laughed harder on this board than at his strange vignettes.

Not to make up a nonexistent story but I've mentioned before that I vaguely remember KC Bob mentioning having some type of physical problem that he had to see a doctor about. That's one of the last posts I remember. I can't remember the specifics but he seemed to be worried about the prognosis. I'm hoping that I'm full of shit as usual..................

As a teacher of composition, I can tell you, KCBob had a publishable style...and I really miss reading his stuff, too.
Hope all is well...

I checked all his posts back to May 12. He did not mention any health problems. He wrote that he was going to visit NYC on the second week of July.

Good. I hope I'm wrong. I know that he mentioned a while back that his brother had moved to Brooklyn, therefore he'd be able to make more frequent trips to NYC.....................

HAHAHAHA! Well, I don't know about Bob, but that last from Goody made me feel better. "As a teacher of composition," har har. You slay me, Goody.
C'mon, Bob, get back on the board. Hopefully you're out making deals on your first novel/collection of poetry/bathroom graffiti.

I just got an e-mail from Bob. He's been doing just fine, but has been busy with other projects.

Yo yo yo! I just got the email from Pete yesterday. Thanks for the concern all. I've been so busy with a sideproject that I got caught up in another world and have unintentionally disconnected myself from a few other cyberworlds.
Been working on a pretty cool sideproject (even have a patent application in) but it's bad luck to talk about unfinished work, so more later.
I've missed writing little stories so it's good to know that some out there like them and actually miss them. I've done some hiking along the railroads this summer so have some good stories to tell. (BTW, anyone see The Station Agent? My favorite flick this year.) Also still seeing my blind barber but he keeps dropping the clippers and is cutting peoples ears so I'm thinking about switching barbers - hepatitis outbreak you know. Have also often run into the 'buttpole surfer' and other horny sexagenarians+. Did I ever post the story about my (now deceased) dad's visit from St. Louis and his compulsion for potato pancakes?
Well I'll have to read the recent messages and catch up with everyone. Also hope to catch the NYC gang on a trip this Spring. With my brother now there, I'll likely visit a few times a year.
I've "known" you guys since the early days of JCS and now realize I shouldn't easily let that go. Hope all is well with everyone.

I, for one, have vivid memories of a picture kcbob posted of a deposit left by a bum in an alley in NYC.
Classic.
Glad the hear you're back.

Good to hear kc bob's OK. I just found this fantastic picture of Joe Maneri & Marty Ehrlich (who's the pianist?) in kc bob's The "Guess The Jazz Performer" Game thread posted by Chris Castelle:
[edit: just checked the Maneri website, caption reads "...with students Marty Erlich [sic] and Richard Eisenstein in 1982".]

The pianist looks like [and I could be WAY off on this one] Hollywood Fat's keyboardist Fred Kaplan.
But what the hell do I know...
Glad yer back, KCBob ;-)

I thought it said:
"Joe jamming with two of his students: Richard Eisenstein, piano and Marty Erlich, sax. This was taken in the late '70s at Joe's mother's house in Brooklyn."
