Top 5 Jazz Songs

Im posting this thread to see what song the folks at jazz corner agree with the most. Keep it around 5 but not much more than that....that'll make it easier.

I'd say my favorites right now are:
John Coltrane-Giant Steps
Bill Watrous-Funny Blues and Tiger of San Pedro
JJ Johnson's Night In Tunisia and Faddis's version
Maynard Ferguson- Superbone Meets the Badman

I know these songs are a tad obscure to some of you out there...I recommend you all go check these out if you havent heard them before...really awesome tunes.
Please give your songs and a little description kind of like I have done. It'll help people out there looking for new tunes to listen to and why they should even bother looking for them.

T-bone, you probably oughta move this one to the Top 10 forum, which is where people regularly ask for others' "best" lists...

BTW, once you've been around, you'll realize there are very few songs so obscure that someone here doesn't know 'em and know 'em well...

At this very moment, it's:

Albert Ayler - Ghosts
AEC - Odwalla
Miles - Sivad
Patty Waters - Black is the Color of My True Love's Hair
Dudu Pukwama (performed by Brotherhood of Breath) - MRA

This list will change five minutes from now, I'm sure

Pretty Hard to Choose ..but i would have to say

1. Maiden Voyage - Herbie Hancock
2. Cantaloupe Island - Herbie Hancock
3. Giant Steps - John Coltrane
4. Topsy - Freddi Hubbard
5. Salt Peanuts - Jon Faddis

I love Herbie Hancock!!

Ahh yes...Herbie Hancock knows what he is doing. Especially on those Bose stereo commercials. SLAM! Actually those things look pretty cool, I'd get me one cept theyre friggin EXPENSIVE! Anyways, good lists everyone. Keep em coming and even if you've already said yours, if youve got 5 more ones you like or 5 new ones add em in!
